Douglass Pulls Off Upset of Stephenson

Seventh-ranked Jaguars suffer second loss of season in 13-12 defeat by the Astros.

Stephenson high entered Friday night's showdown Douglass High with a No. 7 ranking and a nearly flawless regular season.

And while the Jaguars will still be a force to watch for in the playoffs, they couldn't put an exclamation mark on what has been a stellar season - a year in which their only loss prior to Friday was at the hands of M.L. King High.

No, the finishing touches couldn't be placed because the Astros pulled off a 13-12 upset.

Douglass (7-2 overall, 6-2 regional play) was led by two rushing scores by tailback Michael Patrick. Safety Rodney Wright then sealed the Astros victory with a late interception with Stephenson (8-2, 6-2) threatening.

Raymond Sanders scored the lone Jaguars touchdown.
