Any question as to what type of player Chestatee High junior linebacker Chase Vasser is can be summed up in the quote that headlines this article.
When asked about how anxious he is to play college football, the 6-foot-3 and 200-pounder, who gave the University of Georgia a verbal commitment earlier this week, simply stated: "Oh man, I am just ready to knock the mess out of somebody up there."
At one position remains to be seen exactly, as Vasser said that he is open to playing linebacker or free safety for the Bulldogs.
"They are recruiting me to play linebacker," Vasser said. "But I can play free safety, too. I like them both. The main thing about safety they ask is if you can back peddle and are good in coverage and I can do both of those things because I have done it before."
Vasser, who joined fellow juniors Washaun Ealey and Dexter Moody as commitments to the Bulldogs' 2009 recruiting class on the same day, plans to graduate from Chestatee High in December after the conclusion of his senior season.
Then, he will get to officially become a part of the program that he has been a fan of his whole life.
"I grew up a Georgia Bulldog fan," Vasser said. "And even though my brother (Lane Vasser) is going to go to Kentucky, my whole family is Bulldogs fans."
So, despite being a fan of UGA, what is it that led to his early commitment?
"I had a great time when I went to visit there for the game against Kentucky," Vasser said. "I got to bond with all the recruits and we became good buddies. You can't beat the No. 2 team in the country offering you a scholarship as the first linebacker on their board.
"Georgia is going to be playing for a National Championship for the next five years at least and I am going to be a part of that."
Vasser points to his strong relationship with UGA linebackers coach John Jancek as another one of the main reasons why he decided to end the recruiting process early.
"Coach Jancek is a great guy and we hit it off," Vasser said. "He's my coach but he's just as much a good buddy of mine now, too."
Vasser reitered that he is 100-percent committed to play football for UGA and short of something "unexpected" or "drastic" happening with the coaching staff, that won't change.
