Norcross' D.J. Adams Nabs ACC Offer

Wake Forest is the latest program to extend a written scholarship offer.

For a while, Maryland was the favorite of Norcross High standout D.J. Adams.

But now with so much more recruiting attention being paid to the talented tailback, his recruitment is wide open. And Tuesday Adams picked up an offer from another Atlantic Coast Conference program.

"I just received a written offer from Wake Forest," Adams told GAVSV.com Wednesday.

What does the 5-foot-10, 200-pounder think of the Demon Deacons?

"I don't really know much about them," Adams admitted. "I do know about their basketball program because my classmate Al-Farouq Aminu is going there to play basketball. But I never really looked at them too much for football but I will now. I sent the coach an e-mail today acknowledging the offer and letting them know that I am going to try to visit since it's not too far away."

While Adams doesn't know exactly what other schools he plans on visiting, he knows for sure that he wants to head north for at least one trip.

"I really want to see Rutgers," Adams said. "I have gotten really close to the coaches up there and I want to see the school and meet with them. I also know that I am going to go to at least two summer camps. I just don't know which ones yet."

With it being early in the process, Adams still has quite some time to field more offers and set up visits. But unlike most soon-to-be senior prospects who will not make a college decision until next February, Adams plans on ending his recruitment before the start of his final high school season this fall.

Choosing a college can be a daunting task - especially if you shorten the decision process - but Adams says he is lucky to have someone in his corner who just went through the same thing.

"Brice is one of my best friends," said Adams, when asked if he speaks to former teammate and USC signee Brice Butler about recruiting. "He just tells me he knows what I am going through and what to look for. He says to get to know the ins and outs of each program and make the most informed decision."

In addition to the recent written offer from Wake Forest, Adams said that he has been given a verbal scholarship offer from Notre Dame and expects a written one any day.
