If college coaches don't know much about East Paulding's Jahron Brown, that is likely to change pretty soon.
Especially if Brown's father, James, has anything to say about it.
"This is new for me and for him," the elder Brown told GAVSV.com. "I am just trying to help get his name out there and his (high school) coach is helping, too. I have just been sending his tape out to everyone and every coach I hear back from has good to things to say about it."
Brown, a talented tailback, has already attended Junior Day at Alabama and was just invited to another one.
"He was just personally invited by (Louisville tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator) Greg Nord to Louisville's Junior Day on April 5," James Brown said. He has also been invited to Georgia Tech's Junior Day on April 12.
After attending both Junior Days, the 6-foot, 220-pounder will likely attend summer camp at Auburn.
He may be invited to visit a few other schools as well.
"I know Tennessee got a copy of his tape and they are showing interest," James Brown said. "I call 10 coaches a day. UCF has his tape and they are showing interest. North Carolina is starting to show interest."
One interesting thing about the younger Brown is that he is only 16 years old.
His birthday is not until October so that means he will enter his freshman year in college before turning 18.
"Jahron is still just a teenager and he is real laid back and passive about this and not outspoken," James Brown said. "I never had this kind of opportunity and he understands it's a big deal. As I have told him – and he knows – that he is working towards getting a scholarship that will get him an education. The football is the fun part about it."
As a junior a season ago, Jahron posted 900 yards and 16 touchdowns on 106 carries. He put up those staggering numbers while sharing the carries with three other running backs.
His ability to move the chains and find the endzone makes those highlight tapes all the more impressive. His attitude toward the game of football doesn't hurt his chances of earning that first scholarship either.
"I ask him all the time if he has a favorite school," Jahron's father said. "And he just says, ‘Dad, it doesn't matter where it is. I just want to play.'"
