There's nothing like waiting until the last minute to get something done. Friday nights game between Cairo and Bainbridge is not only for a playoff spot, but whoever wins will have another year of bragging rights.
Both coaches have spent the entire season downplaying the plrase "must win" but they can't downplay it anymore. Cairo is having a very dissapointing year by their own standards. At 3-6, the Syrupmakers will continue to ride the arm of quarterback Blake Field and run behind a giant in 6'5 Tommy Gainous
. On the other side of the ball, 2-7 Bainbridge is struggling. The Bearcats are fresh off a much needed win against Crisp Co. but before that, they wre emersed in a 6 game losing streak. The winner of this one will be in the post season but they won't like traveling or playing whoever their first round opponent will be. Here's a look at the other South Georgia teams and what they need to do on Friday:
Thomas County Central: guaranteed at least a first round home game. Friday's game against Ware Co. is for the region title.
Thomasville: off on Friday. Thomasville is the region 1-3A champion. They will be home until the quarterfinals or semifinals
Valdosta: guaranteed at least a first round home game. Game against Coffee Co. is for the region title.
Lowndes: Need a win Friday against Lee Co. to have a first round home game.
Mitchell-Baker: Already in the playoffs. They will finish 3rd and will go on the road in the first round
Colquitt Co./Cook Co. : need a win this weekend to qualify for the playoffs
Pelham: a win over Atkinson Co. on Friday will get Pelham in the playoffs
