Hall County teams sweep playoff berths

Hall County cornered football talent this year as four schools in the northeastern county will vie for Region AAA championships.

Northeast, which played Friday night, earned a ticket to meet West Georgia next Friday. North Hall's 22-8 victory over Fannin County secured their berth as high school football playoffs get underway. The NH Trojans tallied a school record with 8 wins in regular season play.

The Johnson Knights moved to play-off status with North Hall's win. The Knights will travel to face defending champions LaGrange, a top-ranked 6-AAA team that enters the playoffs with a 10-0 season.

No. 1 seed Gainesville (10-0) will host Pepperell Friday after defeating Flowery Branch (0-10) with a 42-0 win. The Red Elephants completed their first undefeated regular season since 1983.

LaGrange, which played a rematch of last year's Class AAA championship game last Friday night, carved a 19-9 victory over Cedartown. Granger head coach Steve Pardue has tallied five region championships as LaGrange head coach. The region title was third in a row for this year's senior Granger team.
