A four-star prospect and the nation's 30th-ranked wide receiver prospect, Jarmon Fortson helped lead Carver-Columbus to a state title his senior year. The 6-3, 220-pounder proved to be a mismatch for opposing defenses wherever he lined up on the offensive side of the ball.
Recruitment: Fortson gave a verbal commitment to nearby Auburn and it seemed likely that he would definitely wind up with his former teammate, DeRon Furr, on the Plains. But in the end, Fortson switched his commitment to Florida State and signed with the Seminoles on National Signing Day in February.
At FSU: Florida State lacks offensive playmakers and Fortson fits that bill. Despite his bulky frame, the former four-star prospect can move with the ball in his hands or gain separation before ball has been thrown. It is unlikely that Fortson will redshirt this season. There is a chance that he could also grow into a tight end for the Seminoles.
