Camden County Preview

Camden County Head Football Coach Jeff Herron cringes at the 1st round of the playoffs.

In his 1st two playoffs with the Wildcats, he's lost in the first round. Included in that was last years upset loss to Riverdale. "We were 10-0 last season in the regular season and we lost. It was a bitter pill to swallow and it provides us with a lot of motivation," says Herron, " It's something that eats at us. We try to play our game and play mistake free football."

That's easier said than done.

Again, Camden County is a perfect 10-0 and again they are home in the first round of the playoffs. This years opponent is Jonesboro, a very talented team.

"Jonesboro is 7-3 and they were one play from winning the region. They tied for 2nd in the region because they lost to a 5A opponent," says Herron.

One of the Camdens rising stars is another top performer, Jamie Felix. "Jamie has had a good year for us, says Herron, " He starts as a sjunior at Linebacker and Defensive End. I'm not sure if he's a top college prospect, but it's still early."

As for the Camden offense, let's just say they're awfully good. The cats have scored 57, 55, and 53 points this season, and that was in just 3 games.

The cats have never scored less than 20 points in a game all season. Coach Herron says, "We run a Wing-T. That gives us the ball control we need. We have a lot of good skill kids this year, but we still pride ourselves on defense and special teams."
