One On One With Blake Gowder

Union County WR Blake Gowder Is One to Watch in 2010.

You never forget your first and the first tape I received when taking this job as a intern last spring was that of Blake Gowder.

It was a tape of a Sophomore OLB and I remember thinking to myself that this kid looks really good. Being my first tape I knew not to get too carried away, but after watching countless tapes since then I am still impressed with this young man.

He was really big for a Sophomore and played well in space. He also played some WR that year.

After a new coach was brought into Union County this year Gowder was chosen for one side of the ball and that was at the WR position.

That turned into a very good decision as Gowder was named 1st team All State by two different associations.

He had over 1400 yds receiving and 77 catches.

What schools are you hearing from currently?

Blake Gowder-" I am hearing from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Duke the most. I pretty much get letters or emails everyday and these are the schools that send the most."

Have you been to any schools to visit?

Gowder- " I have been to camps at Georgia and went to a Georgia Tech game this past year. I really enjoyed camping at UGA and being in Atlanta for the Georgia Tech game versus Duke. I was invited down to Auburn for a game, but I could not make it that day."

I know you played WR this year, but I see you as a FB or LB on the next level. Do you have a preference on what position you play on the next level?

Gowder-" It does not matter to me what I play or where I play. I just want to play Division One college football."

Gowder has been chosen as one of the Top 100 Juniors to attend the Kennedy/CES combine later this month and I expect him to test very well there.
