What is Junior Day?

I have had several people ask me this week " What is Junior Day?" Another start of the recruiting process begins tomorrow at schools across the nation.

Just like last week with the Kennedy/CES combine jump starting the combine season, most of the schools around the nation are having a junior day in the next few weeks.

Junior day is another way for a school to get the prospect on campus. It allows the school and prospect to get a feel for each other.Prospects meet the coaches and tour the campus. It is almost like a official visit all in one day.

Some schools use this day to offer the junior propects for the first time. Parents often attend with the prospect and this is the chance for the school to make a the first impression with them as well.

Schools such as Texas and Penn State could exit junior day with as many as 10 commits. As I have stated before, recruiting never stops and this is a prime example. On the last weekend of 2009 class, these schools will entertain as many as 70 kids from the 2010 class.

Here are some the prospects from the state of Georgia that will be attending upcoming junior days.

Austin Shepard- Auburn, Alabama, Florida State

Tank Sessions -Florida State

Ronald Carswell- Alabama

Deandre Smelter and BJ Bostic-Georgia Tech

Da' Rick Rogers and Garry Peters -Georgia
