Lassiter's Hutson Mason Working Hard

GAVSV.com catches up with Hutson Mason to discuss the off season and his 2008 year.

When you play 5A ball in Georgia and miss the all time record for passing yards in a season by 5 yards, you would think it would be hard to be "under the radar." Hutson Mason is "under the radar" at the moment, but all that is about to end.

Let me first off say I am sorry that I left him out of a earlier story about the 2010 quarterbacks, he is certaintly deserving of mention for any group of quarterbacks anywhere in the country.

What were stats in 2008?

Hutson Mason-" I threw for 3,705 yards and 31 touchdowns. I was five yards away from the state record. 70% completion rate and 9 ints were my final stats."

Those stats are incredible. What are you doing to improve in the offseason?

Mason-" Right now I am really focusing on the weights. Four days a week, I am working out three times a day. I am lifting at school and with a personal trainer in Stone Mountain after school.Really really putting heavy focus on getting my lower body stronger. My quarterback coach was Tee Martin( took a job out West) and now I am working with former NFL quarterback Dave Archer on filmwork and throwing 3-4 days a week as well. We focus on technique and 5,7 step drop. I like working with Dave in the fact that we actually go in the film room and critique my game films."

What schools are you hearing from?

Mason-" I do have a offer from Iowa and just got a hand written letter from Ohio State two days ago. I have spoken with Cincinnati, Wake Forest and Southern Miss. I think Southern Miss is really close to offering me."

What is your current size?

Mason-" I am legit 6'3" 190 lbs"

Rusty's Final Word- Mason just got invited to the Scout.Com Atlanta combine where he will be showcase his skills against the best in the south. A strong showing there and Mason could be a household name over night.
