State Champ Discusses First Offer

Marcus Jackson a two sport star from Pepperell High School talks about winning the AA state championship in the 400 and receiving his first offer in football few days later.

Marcus Jackson fresh off winning a state championship in track received a call that many high school athlete's only dream of getting. That call from a school saying you have a free education waiting on you if you come play football here.

So Air Force offered you?

Marcus Jackson-" The coach from Air Force called me and asked me how things were going with workouts. He told me that I had a offer from them and that I could also run track there. I was surprised and happy at the same time."

What other schools have you been hearing from?

Jackson"I just got back from Middle Tennessee State Sunday from their camp. Navy called me and he told me he was pretty sure they were going to offer. Vanderbilt called me and I will be going up there this weekend."

You said you had a groin pull yet you still won the State in the 400. How did you do that?

Jackson-" Yes Sir I kind of held back until that day and I just pushed it as far as could and I won. It felt great to win it. I ran a 49.6, but I had ran a 49.1 before the injury.

Rusty's Final Word- Marcus has been buying his time behind Brandon Whitaker for 2 years so look for him to have big season on the field. Off the field this young man carries a 3.8 GPA so he already is a star there.
