Camden County Coach Jeff Herron Talks 2009 talks with Camden Coach Jeff Herron. He talks about his tailback Ean Days and some others he thinks are ready to step up. Also speaks about Grayson and what other team he considers elite from Gwinnett County.

As coach put it shortly into our conversation, " we will find out real quick."

We were talking about the game with Grayson upcoming in the Corky Kell classic at the Georgia Dome in 2 weeks.

Grayson will enter that game with maybe the best d-line in the state.

However I do understand Camden is Camden and they are not driving 5 hours without a mission to manhandle a team from the North.

Coach how did the summer go for your team?

" We went to some camps. We went to a offensive camp, a defensive camp and some passing leagues. I am pleased about the way the summer carried over from the spring. Although as a coach you are never going to think you are ready for the first game. We don't have too much longer, because in about 2 more weeks, we will know where we stand."

Speaking of that game in 2 weeks, what do you know about Grayson?

"We actually played Grayson 2 years ago and they had a great team then, plus a great team last year. They really have that program going. I think that them and Peachtree Ridge are the premier teams in Gwinnett county right now. We will have our hands full with them there is no question."

Coach you have to replace kids every year. Who are some names that you think will step up for you this year?

" We feel like we have alot of good players still here. Ean Days, who is our tailback, is a very talented kid. He led us in rushing during the playoffs. Andre Johnson our fullback is also back. So having those two back for us,is really big. Ean has a offer right now from Central Florida, Western Michigan and few others at this point. I think both of them will have a chance to go to college and be good football players.

Zack Griffis, is probably the best tight end we have ever had. He is a great high school football player.

We have probably have as good as we even have had in a guard with a kid name Robert Gabriel. He may not be as big as everybody wants at 6'1" 240lbs, but he is very good for us.

On defense it is probably our defensive line, because that is where most of them are coming back.

We have Jeremiah Booth at noseguard and he goes 6ft and 300lbs. He is very quick for his size.

Matt Jackson and Derrick Saulsberry at defensive ends, whom I feel certain are both college prospects. They both have good height and good speed off the edge.

At linebacker we have one coming back in Glenn Beck. He is a good football player as well.

In our secondary, I think they are very talented, but we are going to be very young there. They are good kids and have talent, they just have not been in the fire yet."

They did lose some kids from last year, however as you can see there is still plenty of talent left in Kingsland, Georgia. If you have dreams of winning the 5A state championship it still goes through Camden County. Grayson will be the first up......
