Weekend Notes

A history making win took place and one of the state's best went down on the first weekend of October.

First off I got to start off with a shocker of a game. Armuchee beat Pepperell for the first time in their school's history. We are talking around 50 years of history give a take a few years. Pepperell is a little overrated at this point and Armuchee is much better team than people give them credit for. Armuchee Safety Jake Nix is playing with a heavy heart with his Mom in a battle for her own life, made what seem to be 100 saving open field tackles on the Pepperell tailbacks. Nix is a 6'3" 2011 S/DB propect to keep a eye on. Armuchee is a team to be taken seriously and Pepperell found out the hard way Friday night.

Northside Warner Robins beat the mightly Lowndes in a typical South Ga slobber knocker. It looks more and more like Camden, NSWR and Lowndes may be the teams to be in 5A. Grayson is the team from the North that will have to be dealt with. North Gwinnett is the other team that is trying to get into that elite class. They and Grayson will need a ring to say they belong with those three.. Both teams will have their chance in the upcoming weeks.

Maryland commit and Northwest Whitefield TE/DE Nermin Delic took a visit to Kentucky and really liked it. Stay tuned here

Calhoun looks they are hitting on all cylinders at this point. Are they peaked or will they be able to maintain this throughout the playoffs? Fitzgerald and Jefferson County may have something to say about that. Never count out Buford. By the way what happen to Lovett?
