2013 OL Gabe Phillips - One to Watch

The offensive line position has always been a strength in Illinois when it comes to recruiting and it will be no different next season. There are more than a dozen road-graders that will sign D-1 letters of intent in Class of 2013. Chatham-Glenwood's Gabe Phillips could be in that group.

"He's as good as they come," said Chatham-Glenwood head coach Dan Rourke. "We moved Gabe [Phillips] up to the varsity as a sophomore and he's done a great job. He played in a state championship game as a sophomore and started every game for us this year as a junior. He's battle tested.

"I've been playing football since the 2nd grade," Phillips said. "Flag football. I've had a couple of very good years and the letters have started to come in. I hear a lot from Wisconsin. Cincinnati and Ball State.

"I don't have any offers yet. I'm also getting a lot of summer camp invites from schools. I might hit some camps and combines this summer as well. I know that I prefer to stay close to home.

"I'm interested in the schools in the MAC, Big Ten and any FCS schools that are in the Midwest. I like Wisconsin the most because they send me the most mail and I'm learning a lot about their program now."

Gabe Phillips carries a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.
