Chicago native Anthony Johnson has been sidelined all spring with an ankle sprain, but is getting ready to return to the court. Last night we caught up with Johnson to get the latest on his health and playing status.

Silky smooth guard Anthony Johnson, who plays for Whitney Young High School in Chicago, has been sidelined since the state tournament with a severe third degree ankle sprain. Johnson stands 6'3" and is listed as four-star recruit here by

"I miss playing; the ankle injury really set me back from playing," Johnson said. "I have still been able to work on lifting but that's it. I just went to the doctor last week and he said I have some kind of virus going on, but today I feel a lot better."

Even though this 2010 student-athlete has been out with his injury he still has high hopes of doing great things when he gets to Purdue.

"I haven't been there for a visit recently but I'm done with school in a week and a half and I plan to get up there and see some of my future teammates," Johnson stated.

Johnson plays AAU basketball for the Illinois Warriors, and he claims his team is off to a great start.

"I should be 100% by the time July rolls around and I'll be able to contribute to my team then," Johnson acknowledged.
