USAAAB: Top 5 West

FOX Sports NEXT takes a look at the Top 5 performers for the West squad, which fell to the East 15-8 in the Saturday showdown in San Antonio, Texas.

WR Derrick Griffin (6-7, 226)
Sure his numbers only show that he made one catch for 16 yards. But it turns it that this catch was one that went for the only touchdown of the day for the West. The Texas A&M commit Griffin was able to stretch the field a number of times in the game, but the catch in the end zone proved to be the best and only one.

LB Jaylon Smith (6-3, 223)
Smith was in on plenty of tackles in the ground game, some of which went for a loss. In addition, the future Notre Dame defender blocked an East field goal in the fourth quarter (West blocked two in the game).

DB Tre'Davious White (5-11, 175)
Call him Mr. Versatility. He played a solid game in the secondary breaking up a couple of passes and making a few tackles, but his yardage in the return game was solid with a total of 52 yards on only two attempts. The LSU commit also was the pitch who was responsible for keeping a drive alive on a successful fourth-down fake punt.

DB Tahaan Goodman (6-2, 185)
For the West, Goodman was easily of the best, if not the best on the field. He had a huge tackle for loss, but was also the team's leading tackler five in the game. Goodman also made a few hits that could be heard from the stands too.

DT Eddie Vanderdoes III (6-3, 305)
AT times the West had trouble slowing down the rushing attack of the East, but Vanderdoes did make a number of plays, including a sack which halted an East drive. The one-time USC pledge had three tackles, one for loss yardage.
