TOP Indiana Class of 2013 quarterbacks

Indiana has had some great quarterbacks come through his state. If you look at past history some true legendary signal callers have played their high school football in Indiana.

Indiana has had some great quarterbacks come through his state. If you look at past history some true legendary signal callers have played their high school football in Indiana. Jeff George led Warren Central to back to back state titles in 1984 and 1985. He would later go on to star at Illinois and become the first pick in the draft by the Colts. Rex Grossman was a standout at Bloomington South leading the Panthers to a state championship in 1998. He went on to play college ball at Florida and later was a first round pick of the Chicago Bears. Current Chicago Bear quarterback Jay Cutler led Heritage Hills to a 2000 state title and then went to Vanderbilt. Former Goshen standout and Notre Dame standout Rick Mirer was a first round pick of the Seahawks (2nd overall) and went on to play in the NFL for 11 years.

Some other quarterbacks who enjoyed successful NFL careers. The only quarterback to enjoy an undefeated NFL season is an Indiana native. Bob Griese played at Evansville Rex Mundi and later at Purdue. He threw for over 25,000 career yards. Mark Herrmann led Carmel to state championships in both football and basketball. He played for five teams over the course of his 12 year NFL career.

Who will be the next Indiana High School quarterback to strike it big? Hard to say but here are some candidates to play at the next level.

QUARTERBACKS (list alphabetically)

Chris Barrett- TH North Chris is the son of the head coach of the same name. Has a great arm, He has thrown for 687 yards on just 35 completions and eight touchdowns without an interception this season.

Colin Barthel- Cathedral Colin is in his first year as the starter for the Irish. He played behind his brother Connor and Connor Rice the last two seasons. He is also a standout basketball player. At 6 foot 7 inches and 210 pounds he has GREAT size. He may also look to play college basketball as he has serious D1 interest in that sport. He has thrown for 1350 yards and 12 touchdowns in this season's first six games.

Connor Christiansen- Fishers Connor is a major talent for Head Coach Rick Wimmer. The lefty has a great touch and pocket presence. Has a 3.3 GPA. Has a greyshirt opportunity from Northern Illinois and interest from many others. He has thrown for 984 yards and9 touchdowns in this season's first six games.

Quinn Cook- Luers Quinn had to beat out one of the state's top sophomores in Noah Wezensky for the Knights signal calling job. Has a 4.1 GPA and is receiving serious interest from several Ivy League powers.

Matt DeSomer- Andrean Matt May be the most underrated player in the state. Everyone in the "REGION" is aware of his talents. He is also a standout on the baseball field. He has serious interest in that sports as well as a football offer from Eastern Michigan. Many schools are also recruiting him as a safety.

Nick Ferrer- Westfield Nick has put up 1138 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season. He combines with receiver Devin Reece to form one of the state's top passing combinations.

Mike Fiacable- Dwenger Mike was injured last season missing both the football and basketball seasons. He is now back at full strength. As a sophomore he threw for over 1200 yards. Had a solid summer playing on the AWP 7 on 7 team.

Jeff George- Warren Central He is the son of the legendary QB of the same name. The younger George also has a tremendous arm. He started as a sophomore at Brebeuf before transferring to Warren Central before last season. Has an offer from his father's alma mater at Illinois. He has thrown for 877 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this season.

Isaac Harker- Lebanon The # 1 Ranked student in his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He threw for over 1900 yards last season

Austin Hooker- Tipton Austin is a left hander with a solid arm and winning program. He could end up playing another position at the next level.

Jake Jatis- Crown Point Strong armed signal caller. Jake is also a standout baseball players for the Bulldogs. Jake is another high academic quarterback in this class. Has a lot of attention from the Ivy League Football Schools.

Mason Kutruff- Martinsville He is the son of Artesian Head Coach Mason Kutruff. Mason has thrown for1244 yards and 16 touchdowns in the first six games of this season. He is an also a left handed baseball pitcher.

Michael Loggan- North Central He is a talented thrower with good size at 6 foot 5 inches. Michael is also a standout small forward for the perennial powerhouse Panther basketball squad. He has thrown for 1028 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season.

Brent Lyles- Pike A complete mystery to me why this kid doesn't have multiple offers yet alone a ton of offers. Would be a great pick up for any team running zone read option attack. Also has a 3.6 GPA\

Matt Monserez- South Bend St. Joseph's Matt is a two sport standout at Saint Joseph's. He is a big athlete who could play a variety of positions at the college level. He has thrown for 731 yards and 8 touchdowns in the season's first four games.

David Morrison- FW Concordia One of the only committed prospects at the quarterback spot. The strong armed QB has verbally committed to play for Pete Lembo at Ball State. David has completed 104 of 176 passes for 1356 yards and nine touchdowns this season.

Michael Myers- Guerin Michael is a High academic quarterback with a 3.5 GPA. He transferred in from Fishers prior to last season. He has thrown for 896 yards so far this season.

Zach Oakley- Penn Oakley is a Central Michigan safety recruit. Zach is also a baseball standout with a 3.6 GPA.

Jake Purichia- Ritter Jake has put up staggering numbers the last few seasons at Ritter. May be a little undersized, but no one can deny he wins. He has thrown for 1565 yards and 21 touchdowns already this season.

Austin Reagan- Evansville Reitz Austin is an overlooked signal caller in the southwest part of the state. He is a solid athlete with good size.

Conner Smith- Perry Meridian You cannot ignore his incredible early season stat line. Conner has thrown for 2139 yards and 29 touchdowns in just seven games.
