INTRO 2015: Bryce Stancombe

Bloomington South QB Bryce Stancombe had a huge junior season putting him on the map.

The Bloomington South Panthers advanced to the sectional title game last season. A big part of that was the improved play at quarterback. Making that improvement was 6-2 195 junior Bryce Stancombe. Last season he threw for 2,165 yards, 24 passing TDs, 62% completion percentage, 4 rushing TD's. He was Bloomington South's offensive player of the year.

I had a chance to evaluate his film recently and was very impressed with his natural quarterback skills. He shows a great pocket presence as well as a quick release. He is very fortunate to have one of the state's best QB coaches in Mo Moriarity back at South High School. He hopes by hitting the camp circuit his stock will rise.

Here is his highlight film

How did your junior season go?

We had some ups and downs last season. We were fortunate to have the return of coach Moriarity who had previously coached at Bloomington South and won two state titles. He actually coached my dad when he went to South. We are learning so much from him everyday. In the previous three seasons before coach Moriarity's return we had combined for three wins. Last year we were 4-7 and made it to the sectional championship. Five of our seven losses were by a touchdown or less.

What schools are currently recruiting you?

At this point I am mostly getting recruited by Indiana schools and some smaller schools in the adjoining states.

Do you have a favorite school at this point?

I have a couple favorites but I am open to any school that would be a good fit for me academically and athletically. Playing football and getting a quality education…both are important to me.

Is there a school you wish was recruiting you?

I have always been a fan of the Florida Gators after growing up watching Rex Grossman play there. And…what football kid doesn't like Notre Dame?

What schools have you visited?

I haven't done a lot of visits yet, but I am going to visit Eastern Michigan and Ball State this weekend.

Do you have upcoming plans to visit any other schools?

I don't have any set plans yet after this weekend, but I am looking at what camps I can sign up for to help me continue to better my skills and get more exposure. I just want to play football…if I can do that and get a good education that would be great. That is my goal.

What other sports do you play?

Basketball- I recently started dunking the basketball.

What would you like to major in?

I am currently undecided but possibly Business or Engineering.
