PREVIEW 2015: CENTER GROVE TROJANS
Center Grove came oh so close in 2014. The Trojans finished 9-4 last season. The Trojans lost two games to eventual state champion Ben Davis including a 49-45 shootout in the semi-state. Coach Eric Moore should be excited with a great group coming back. Moore will have to find replacements for: Max Norris (Western Illinois), OL Jacob Shiley, OL Austin Smogor, OL Will Hacker, DB Josh Hart, LB Keith Sears, LB Adam Lutrin and DE Gavin Everett.
I will go with the defensive line duo of Jovan Swann and Cameron Tidd. The duo dominated on the D-line last season. Swann has offers from all over the Big Ten while Tidd recently pledged to Vanderbilt.
Middle linebacker Jackson Sodrel broke in last season with 66 tackles. Look for more this time around.
Running back Titus McCoy has been in the rotation since his freshmen year. Last season he ran for 926 yards.
BEST POSITION BATTLE:
There will be several youngsters in the hunt to see time at running back and wing back.
SCOUTING THE: TROJANS POSITION BY POSITION
Joey Siderewicz had a solid season in his season as a starter. Last season he completed 77 of 121 passes for 1132 yards and 9 touchdowns. Junior Jack Kellums is a solid prospect as well.
The productivity of Titus McCoy is sure to go up. Look for Triston Clark, Lee Clinker, Trevor Holhlt and Jackson Hohlt to see carries as well.
Seniors Zack Smith and Quinton Stirsman will need to step up in their final season. Sophomore Cory Heinrichs and senior Corbin Smith are back at tight end.
Juniors Nick Davis (5-10, 250) and Clay Hadley (5-11, 255) are back as starters. Senior tackle/tight end John Richardson (6-4, 295), senior tackle Josh Clifford (6-4, 300), junior guard Dylan Bramlett and junior guard Ethan Hart will look to fill out the Trojan O-line.
Not too many teams can bring back two D1 players on their D-line. Cameron Tidd (46 tackles) and Jovan Swann (36 tackles) lead this group. Look for senior Devon Wilson and junior Zack Wells (6-5, 225) to be candidates to join them.
Leading tackler Jackson Sodrel returns. Looking to line up next to him are: junior Bailey Bennett, senior Luke Muller and junior Korby Brown.
Senior Connor Steeb (29 tackles) leads the Trojan secondary. Look for senior Tyler Pence, senior Jackson Hohlt, senior Keaton Clark and senior Corbin Bowling to see action.
The Trojans should again be right in the middle of the mix for 6A supremacy. Coach Eric Moore again should have an explosive offense. Look for Titus McCoy to put up huge numbers. Having an experienced quarterback (Siderwicz) back is a huge plus. The key will be defensive consistency.
