2015 Preview: LAKE CENTRAL INDIANS

Seven starters returning on defense and talented offensive skill players return

PREVIEW 2015: LAKE CENTRAL INDIANS

Last season expectations for Lake Central were not as high after the graduation of Gelen Robinson. The young Indians surprised many by going 9-2, including go undefeated in the Duneland Conference. Coach Brett St Germain will have high goals this season. The Indians will have to replace offensive skill standouts WR Antwan Davis and RB Brandon Scott. Seven returning starters lead the Indian defense.

STANDOUT

Senior Wally Dahlkamp leads the Indian defense form his middle linebacker spot. Last season Dahlkamp had 107 tackles.

BREAKOUT PLAYER

Look for junior running back Anthony Giles. The speedy back looks to take over for Brandon Scott.

TOP UNDERCLASSMEN

Wide receiver Austin Atkins put up nice numbers as the Indians number two receiver. Look for Atkins to better his 24 receptions for 467 yards.

BEST POSITION BATTLE:

Last season Ethan Darter and Colin Studer shared quarterback duties. Will they again?

SCOUTING THE: INDIANS POSITION BY POSITION

QUARTERBACK

Ethan Darter completed 105 of 185 passes for 1191 and 16 scores, while Colin Studer threw for 564 yards and 5 touchdowns.

RUNNING BACK

Replacing the production (983 yards) of Brandon Scott will be tough. Will it be Anthony Giles. You may also see Mike Pena and Anthony Garcia.

RECEIVERS

Austin Atkins is a playmaker at wideout. Who will join him? Will it be one of the quarterbacks? Josh Benson, Chris Gillespie and Jerry Velasquez are names to watch. Tight end Ryan Bereda is set at tight end.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Guard Jake Brown, tackles Dakota Barnett and center Tyler Dernulc return as starters. Also in the mix are Derek Pass, Dylan Schwader and Paul Centanni.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Senior Khlaid Yacoub (21 tackles), junior Michael Taylor (40 tackles) and sophomore Michael Dahlkamp return as starters

LINEBACKERS

Lucius Pilate teams with Wally Dahlkamp to form a nice linebacker duo. Sophomore Jackson Long could break through,

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Newcomers will need to step up here as only Nick Lucas is back.

OUTLOOK:

The biggest addition to this Lake Central squad is not a player. A long overdue facility upgrade should boost the numbers and morale at LC. The Indians will need a running back to put up numbers. The defense will be stout again.
