With basketball season approaching, Marcellus Barksdale has been hard at work transforming his game to get ready for the next level. Morehead State recently visited the 6-foot-4 Barksdale and had some good things to say about his future possibilities. What did the skilled combo guard take away from the meeting?
"Coach Joseph Price from Morehead State came down and talked to my Mom and I," Barksdale said. "He told me about the school and what to expect coming into Morehead… He's a great guy and we established a great relationship."
Though Morehead State did not officially offer Barksdale a scholarship during their meeting, there is no doubt the interest is heavy between both parties. Barksdale, who averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists as a junior last season, plans to make a trip east soon to take in the campus and see what the school has to offer.
"I'm taking an unofficial visit down there next Saturday along with Walter Alexander, Vinny Zollo and a few others," Barksdale said.
Clearly the Morehead interest is strong, but they are not the only school that has been keeping tabs on Barksdale recently.
"I've also been in contact with IUPUI and Lehigh," Barksdale said. "I plan on taking an unofficial visit to IUPUI at the end of the month."
Barksdale, who will be one of the more sought after backcourt players in the state in the coming months, will continue to receive college interest as the hoops season approaches. Be sure to stay tuned to Scout Kentucky Preps for the most up to date info on the skilled senior.
