Shane Fields, at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, has good size for a high school sophomore. Fields is also a 4.5 forty prospect who has had a nice season despite a recent injury.
"My season is going good," said Fields. "I have five interceptions on the season and three returned for touchdowns. My longest was 50 yards," he said.
Fields has a long way to go as a player, but early on he looks like a division one prospect. "As a go-getter, I try to get better every time out," he said. "I don't mind working hard on my weak points and I stand up and love challenges. I want to check and shutdown the best receivers," he continued.
As a corner, the ability to go one-on-one is paramount and Fields is working to improve that aspect of his game. "I want to get better at my man-to-man pres. I say every player can get better in every area of their game. So I'm working on everything to make myself a better player all-around," he said.
Fields feels like there are a few moments this season that stood out for him.
"I think my best game so far was when we played Fern Creek. I had two interceptions, one for 44 yards and the other for 50 yards and a touchdown," said Fields. Fields also threw a pass for a touchdown in that contest.
Performances like that can help his team reach his goal for the remainder of the season.
"I want my team to have a good playoff run," he said.
At this early stage, Fields hasn't taken any visits and obviously doesn't hold offers, but he's hearing from Kentucky and a few other schools.
