At 6-foot-9, 185-pounds, most basketball players Derek Willis's age struggle to walk and chew bubble-gum. However with Derek Willis, he's completely agile and able to do many things on the court.
"I can play anywhere on the court and I can shoot well for being tall," said Willis. "My passing and shooting are my strengths," he said.
"I felt like they had great academics as well as a great athletic program. My family and I felt they were a great choice," said Willis.
So why did Willis make the decision to go with Purdue so early on?
"They believed in building character just as much as being a better ball player. They're going to help me become a better man while making me a better player and so forth," said Willis.
Willis says he really didn't seriously consider any other schools.
Willis will play AAU ball for the BA Hoyas this spring and summer.
