Ryan Smith, one of Kentucky's best defensive linemen, recently camped at the University of Louisville. With his performance, Smith really made an impression on the Cardinal staff.

Smith helped anchor Henry Clay's defensive line last season. He helped lead them to a 10-3 record behind 54 tackles and 7 ½ sacks.

"I had a great camp at Louisville," said Smith. "Coach Clint Hurtt, the defensive line coach really liked me," he continued. "He liked my leverage, my power, speed and my quickness off the ball," he said.

But it wasn't just about his on-field impression. "We built our relationship and he was very impressed."

We had also previously reported that Ryan was visiting Navy on June 16th, but that was a mistake. "I got the dates messed up. I actually visit Navy on July 16th," Smith said.

Either way, now is a great time for Smith. His stock should continue to rise. The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder also has a 29 inch vertical, benches 345 pounds and squats 625 pounds. impression on the Cardinal staff.

Next stop for Smith is a camp in Champaigne, Illinois at the University of Illinois.
