Wide Receiver Devin Boutte of Catholic-New Iberia received a nice surprise in the mail a few days ago. The speedy junior, who helped lead the Panthers to the 3A semifinals last year, picked up his first scholarship offer, courtesy of Tulane.
"I got a letter from Tulane over the weekend saying that they had offered me," Boutte said. "I had talked to them on the phone a few weeks ago and they indicated that they would offer. It's a good ways to start things off."
Tulane may just have a leg up on the competition when it comes to landing Boutte's services, seeing as how the Green Wave recently signed Catholic-New Iberia quarterback Taylor Bullock.
"It does make Tulane a lot more appealing," said Boutte in reference to his former quarterback inking with the Green Wave.
In the past few weeks, Boutte has started hearing from TCU, Oklahoma State, and Southern Mississippi.
"TCU began sending me letters about a month to a month-and-a-half ago," Boutte said. "Oklahoma State's been sending me letters and Southern Miss as well. Southern Miss wants me to come to their Junior Day and Tulane wants me to come to their spring game on April 24."
Boutte said that he is thinking about attending camps during the summer at LSU, Ole Miss, and Rice.
