Funchess Eager to Get Started at Michigan

Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison senior tight end Devin Funchess talks about his role as a future Wolverine and eagerness to get on campus.

Farmington Hills Harrison's 6-foot-5, 222-pound tight end Devin Funchess was recently at Oakland University with other athletes working on his game even though he already signed with the University of Michigan.

"I'm looking to improve my game in many different ways, that's why I am here. Funchess replied. "I am here to focus on my footwork and my release out of my stance. I am also working on breaking down on my routes."

Funchess has always been a versatile player, and has played multiple positions, such as tight end, wide receiver, and linebacker. Going into Michigan, Funchess says he will be used in different ways and is willing to help the team in any way he can.

"As of now I have been asked to play in the slot and then sometimes I may play on the outside in the red zone." Funchess said. "I just want to be able to help my team in any way that I can. I want to help them get wins, so that Michigan can be put back on the map, like they were a couple of years ago."

Funchess is eager to get on to campus and make an impact.

"At this point I am just eager to get on campus and the field." Funchess replied. "When it comes to impact I can have, I am different than the average player because of my versatility and skill set. I bring a different type of game to the field."

Funchess plans to continue working on his game in the offseason so that he is in the best physical and mental condition when he arrives on campus.
