All The Latest on Drake Harris

The buzz around Grand Rapids Christian these days has been about Drake Harris' Ohio State offer and if the star wide receiver will stay committed to Michigan State. Tonight, Fox Sports NEXT spoke to him and his father and got the latest on his situation.

Yesterday, Ohio State came over to Grand Rapids and offered Christian High star junior receiver Drake Harris. A Michigan State commit, the offer set off shockwaves through West Michigan and questions about whether or not he was still a Spartan.

"They [Ohio State] said they want to offer Drake, and they love Drake," his father Mike Harris said. "They heard the rumors that he may just be playing one sport and if that's true, they want to be in the conversation. People went all crazy because this guy came in town, but hey, it's going to happen to any kid that's a premiere athlete. It's going to happen."

Drake himself said it was an honor to meet Urban Meyer and receive the offer.

"It was great. He's one of the best coaches ever to coach college football, growing up watching him down at Florida, it was great to have him there in front of me and it means a lot for him to come up here and visit me. It was a great experience to meet him and I was very happy with the offer coming from a great program like Ohio State."

Harris is an outstanding basketball player as well, and the questions surrounding his recruitment come down to the hardwood as well.

"So right now, he's still committed to State and that's what it is," Mr. Harris said. "The question is, right now, is he going to do both? And if it's just one, and it is football, I would say that he's definitely going to look at every option, but still, State's there. He's still got that commitment to them, but he still wants to go and just see. Any kid, you have one time that you have this process that you go through, so why wouldn't you want to take advantage of it?"

After an outstanding year on the gridiron, one where he was the integral part of his team's state title, Harris is becoming increasingly sure his future is in football.

"From the beginning the reason why I committed to State was because I was playing two sports and I wanted to play for Izzo. If I was just playing basketball, I wouldn't be looking at any other schools, but I kind of want to focus on football and just playing football and that's why. I mean, I'm still committed to State and everything, but I want to open my recruiting back up."

When asked if he was still deciding between the two sports, Harris said, "No, I'm for sure just going to play football."

Visits appear likely to happen, but nothing is set in stone yet.

"Man, we haven't set anything up yet," Mr. Harris explained. "People come out and say this stuff. They quoted Drake saying that and I don't even think Drake said that. I mean, of course they want us to come down and visit."

"I don't have any visits set yet," Drake echoed, but when asked which schools he may look at for football, he responded with: "Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Florida State."
