Hooey Close to First Offer

One of the state's top prospects, Hillsdale TE Sean Hooey recently chatted with Michigan Insider about next season and his recruitment. Among the big news covered, the possibility of an upcoming offer from a Big Ten school.

There is a lot going on for Sean Hooey right now. He is busy sorting through the recruiting letters from colleges, the phone calls from the recruiting media and all while trying to adjust to a new school. After playing last season at Lichtfield, Hooey trasferred to Hillsdale this past January and will suit up for them on the gridiron this coming fall.

"Hillsdale has better academics and athletics," Hooey explained.

The Hornets will be happy to have the big 6'7, 245-lber. Largely recruited as a tight end, Hooey hauled in 14 passes for 120 yards last season. His size and athleticism also has several schools looking at him as an offensive tackle. However, don't rule out the defensive side of the ball for Hooey, as he recorded 72 tackles, 14 TFL, 4 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and a saftey from his end position. He also was the Lichtfield long-snapper to boot.

Of course, all that versatility and size has made Hooey a prime target for college recruiters.

"Michigan State, Cincinnati and Purdue recruit me the hardest," Hooey reported, "As for scholarship offers, Purdue is really close but nothing yet."
