Zips in the Lead for Shuford

Farmington Hills Harrison RB Norman Shuford helped lead his team to the state title game last year and at the same time, carried on the tradition of talented players at Harrison. Shuford caught up with Michigan Varsity to talk about where he might play college ball.

There are still a few loose ends to tie up in Norman Shuford's recruiting. But things are beginning to clear up for the 5'9, 165-lber from Farmington Hills Harrison.

Part of that process has been attending camps and showing his skills and coaches from around the midwest have been taking notice.

"As far as camps, I went to a lot," Shuford said of his summer, "most of them were MAC but I did well. I ran a 4.40 at Akron and I did 225 lbs 11 times."

Shuford had already received offers from Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, but while there is some temptation for him to stay in state, it has been the Zips who have grabbed his attention.

"Right if i had to pick a school they would win hands down," said Shuford, "I loved the school and my parents did too!"

Although it is looking like Akron and Shuford may be the right match, he is still resisiting the temptation to pull the trigger and commit early. Especially before he tries to continue his recent success at camps.

"I still have to do two more camps. Michigan State and one with the Boilermakers."
