CMU the Right Place for Showers

Central Michigan picked up a couple of verbals from instate prospects this week, one of them was Detroit Crockett's talented CB/WR Valtorrey Showers. The playmaker talked to us about why Mount Pleasant was the right destination for him.

Valtorrey Showers confirmed what ChippewasInsider reported earlier this week, that he would be a Central Michigan Chippewa next fall.

"Yes I committed," Showers reported, "I just called coach and told him that I wanted to play for him."

Central Michigan was the first school to offer the 5'9 speedster, who was on the All-Combine team in Chicago. Although the Chippewas were the first, they were not the only as he had several other MAC and Big Ten schools courting him, but in the end, a change of scenery was a big part of the decision.

"The reason that I chose to go there was that I liked their program and I just felt at home when I saw the facilities," he said and added, "The school is in a nice area and I really dont have to worry about getting in trouble. The school is in a nice calm area where I can stay focused on becoming the type of player I want to be.

Next up for Showers is beginning practice for the fall with his Crockett teammates. He will be starting at both wide receiver and cornerback for the Rockets.
