Week 6 Predictions

We had a good week last week going 6-1 on our predictions. This week will be tough though as there are a number of matchups pitting playoff team against playoff team. Here is how we think these games will shake out.

Season Prediction Record: 29-10

South Haven @ Comstock
Comstock comes in at 5-0, but the Colts have lived dangerously of late, winning the last two games by a combined eight points. South Haven, 4-1 on the year has really been lighting up the scoreboard behing junior QB Isaiah Grimes. He's the key in this one and I think he'll help end the Comstock win streak.
Prediction: South Haven - 37, Comstock - 28

Detroit Cass Tech @ Detroit Southeastern
Homecoming at Southeastern and the headlines in this one will be all about Cass Tech CB Boubacar Cissoko matching up on Southeastern WR Fred Smith. But Cass Tech is 1-4 because they haven't been able to score and they've had trouble stopping the run. When it's all said and done, the Cissoko-Smith matchup might have very little bearing on the outcome.
Prediction: Southeastern - 28, Cass Tech - 14

Detroit King @ Detroit Denby
This is a big matchup in PSL-1, Denby needs this win after dropping last week's game to Southeastern. But King has been rolling lately, with Nick Perry wreaking havoc on both sides of the ball and QB Donovan Dickerson and RB Darrin Williams sparking the offense. Denby must get solid play out of QB DeAndre Richardson to get a win, but I don't think he'll get the protection he needs.
Prediction: King - 21, Denby - 16

Detroit Northwestern @ Detroit Crockett
Northwestern is 5-0 largely behind Martez James' arm and the play of their talented skill athletes. Crockett is 2-3, but that is deceiving because of the schedule they have played. This will be a close one, but Crockett has the secondary to run with the Colt receivers and I think Crockett's line will make the difference.
Prediction: Crockett - 28, Northwestern - 21

Southfield Lathrup @ Farmington Hills Harrison
Two 4-1 teams square off at Harrison. Lathrup has really surprised me with how they've played this season, but the Hawks just have too much offensive talent and now that WR Bruce Horner is in the swing of things, that should open things up even more for RB Norman Shuford.
Prediction: Harrison - 35, Lathrup - 17

Highland Park @ Melvindale
Another matchup of 4-1 teams, this will be a very good game. Melvindale has excellent skill players and it will be interesting to see WRs Cameron Gordon and Danny McKinney against a good Polar Bear secondary lead by Jonathan Dandridge. But the two key players in this game are Melvindale RB Wayne Pettus, who has been running well of late and Polar Bear QB Ian Thomas, who has been taking good care of the ball. A close one that comes down to special teams and turnovers.
Prediction: Highland Park - 19, Melvindale - 16

Livonia Stevenson @ Livonia Churchill
A crosstown showdown of unbeatens, the question will be whether or not Churchill can slow down the brother to brother passing game of Myles and Mitchell White. Actually, the key to this game could be how they stop younger brother, sophomore RB Austin White. Look for Austin to have a big impact on this one.
Prediction: Stevenson - 28, Churchull - 24
