White Exploring Every Option

Junior TE/WR Dion Sims grabbed a lot of the headlines for Orchard Lake St.Mary's and rightly so. But talk to anyone close to the team and they'll tell you Dominique White was the MVP of the team. The shifty tailback updated us on his recruitment.

Dominique White was one of the state's top running backs this season. The 5'8, 185-lb White lead Orchard Lake St.Mary's to a state title and along the way, found a number of schools who were interested in him, but he has two main options right now.

"Right now, it's Grand Valley State and Indiana State," he said, "I have a January 18 official to Indiana State."

As for the Lakers, White has been invited to campus and hasn't been there yet, but may head into Allendale soon, pending a few different factors.

"It depends on what happens with my highlight tapes, I sent a lot out to Division 1 schools. So far only Clemson and Connecticut called back but they said they liked my tape and they'll get back to me."

An undersized back, White knows there are systems that he is better suited for than others. With that in mind, he is basing a lot of his decision on the types of offense each school runs.

"I like the spread offense more," he said, and as for other factors in his decision, he said, "I'm looking to go farther away from home. Watching all these bowl games the last few days, it has been making me want to get away."

The stage is set and White knows what he wants. The next couple weeks with all the film review and research and visits will decide his future.

"Hopefully I'll have it all wrapped up before February."
