Michigan Varsity Commitment Updates

February 5 update. Our rolling blog of commitments is updated with a few more D2 and 1-AA commits as well as a couple walk-ons who have found homes.

February 5
Zeeland West offensive lineman Matthew Forward has committed to Northern Michigan.

DeWitt wide receiver Jason Fleet has commmitted to Saginaw Valley State. Joining him as Cardinal commits are West Catholic's LB Tony Iacovoni and Detroit Crockett DE Shelton Gaines.

Royal Oak RB Raylen Davis is off to Air Force

Wayne State has picked up three commitments: Detroit Central QB Kevin Smith, Troy QB Branko Hamilton and Rochester Adams RB Josh Renel.

Oxford LB Zach Line has committed to Southern Methodist.

January 30

Macomb Dakota offensive tackle Jacob Doan has committed to Wayne State.

A source tells us Detroit Cass Tech CB Julian Easterly has committed to Indiana State.

Lake Orion QB Chris Lum is off to Lehigh, he is the 2nd Michigan product to commit there joining Birmingham Seaholm RB Trevor Stapleton.

Holland Christian WR Elias Kos will be a preferred walk-on at Michigan.

Detroit Crockett center Donald Mathis will be playing his college ball at Saginaw Valley State.

Utica Eisenhower WR John Orlando will walk-on at Grand Valley State.

January 24

Detroit Denby LB/SS Krashawn Ray-El took a trip to Toledo this weekend and came away with enough to make a decision.

"I'm going to Toledo," he said, "I talked to the head coach (Tom Amstutz) and he said there was a spot on the team for me here. I'm going to walk-on my first year and try to be on scholarship after that. They want me to play strong safety."

Another Detroit product, CB Quinn Parnell of Detroit Renaissance has committed to Michigan Tech.

Mike Elias, a SS/LB from Ann Arbor Huron is headed to the GLIAC as well, but he will play for the Bulldogs of Ferris State.

Staying in that conference, West Catholic QB/ATH Kirk Deering took a visit to Saginaw Valley State this weekend and committed to the Cardinals. SVSU also has a verbal commitment from Jack Raymond of Macomb Dakota.

Oak Park FS Antoine Mason has committed to Alcorn State.
