Early Look: Top 2011 Prospects

There are some precocious youngsters making noise already in the state of Michigan. A handful of sophomores are playing key roles on some of the state's top teams. Here is an early look at who the colleges may be coming after very soon.

The Early Top 11 ( in no particular order)
Lawrence Thomas LB Detroit Renaissance 6'3 215
Already has great size and plays a very physical brand of football. According to Renaissance coaches, word of their young sensation has spread and he already is receiving letters from Michigan State, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas State, West Virginia and Indiana.
DeAnthony Arnett WR Saginaw 5'11 165
An outstanding three sport athelte who is currently averaging 24 yards a reception. Has excellent ball skills and explosiveness off the line. As he fills out, he should develop into a great one.
Anthony Johnson WR Sterling Heights Parkway 6'4 185
Has actually played cornerback at his size, which shows his athleticism. Has a great frame to go along with that. Is the younger brother of CMU commitment Zurlon Tipton.
Ryan Griffin RB/S Ann Arbor Pioneer 5'9 160
Has been slowed by injuries this season, but Pioneer coaches rave about his speed and ability. He and Jeron Clayton have already been dubbed "Mcfadden and Jones" and will a great 1-2 punch for the next few seasons.
  Ashton Gaines WR/DB Detroit Crockett 5'11 165
Fantastic football player has excelled at both receiver and cornerback for Crockett this year. Has good hands and speed.
Jeron Clayton RB Ann Arbor Pioneer 5'8 160
Has been the starter for most of the season at Pioneer and has put up some great numbers. Is not the biggest guy, but has a great burst and open field ability.
Blake Blackwell WR Detroit Cass Tech 6'1 185
Has not gotten many chances with Cass' powerful running game, but in 7-7s, he was excellent this summer. Has good size and really showed the ability to go up and get the ball.
Jamel Abrams RB Marine City 5'11 200
Saw some time as a freshman a year ago and is now playing a bigger role in the offense. Next year, he should be the featured back with Chad Allemon graduating, but his combination of size and running prowess has already attracted recruiting attention.
Urbane Bingham OL Detroit Country Day 6'5 255
Has a great frame and can move. If he continues to add weight and strength while keeping his athleticism, he will field several FBS offers.
  Kyle Brindza K Plymouth - -
This soccer player has proven to be quite the weapon for the Wildcats over the last two seasons, as he has shown a strong leg and impressive accuracy for a youngster.
Ronald Walker CB Detroit Cooley 6'2 195
Walker is a great athlete with impressive size and ability. He can project to several positions in college, but his range and ball skills may suit him best in the secondary.
