Didn't undedrstand that a kid being recruited is a three stage process. Many parents want to blame coaches for their kid not get recruited or a scholarship. I found out this process includes coaches, athletes, and parents.
1. Coach- all coach can do is sale your kid and plead for a college to come look at him/her, and other coaches must think and speak highly of player. Once this happen it is out the coach hand, then he/she must perform to keep coaches coming back.
2. Athletes- must perform when scouts are in stands, make ACT score and have GPA, and must do well off the court. Coach has nothing to do with this part of the process.
3. Parents/community- must not be in stands dogging kids out. You never know who you are talking to about a kid, by saying they are lazy or don't want to work. This will not only affect that kid, it may affect your kid as well. College coach may not want your kid, because they know that you are very negative and will bring negative thoughts to their team. So parents you must be careful what you are saying about coaches and other players.
I talked to a recruiter and he told me all coaches speak well about their players that's why they don't take coach's word. As parents, we only loook at how many points a kid is scoring and the good things a kid is doing. They evaluate the bad things kids do to determine if it can be fixed. Taking good shots, not turning ball over, not being selfish, and how well they play defense and respond to adversity. Most of all is he/she coachable.
