Announcing the 2nd Annual Gulf Coast Exposure Camp, August 17-18. This years Camp will be held at the Gulfport Sportsplex. Please access the same camp website as last year, www.gcec.shutterfly.com. Camp related info such as: Colleges Coaches working the Camp, Hotel rate information, Directions, and the all important Registration Form for this years Camp. The cost remains the same as last year, $150. Saturday will be true Exposure Drills followed by live Scrimmages on Sunday. Exposure Drills will involve "No Real Instruction" to speak of to keep the scheduled activities on time. Drills will include Offense, Defense, Pitching, Catching, Running, etc. A player will have a chance to work Primary and Secondary Defensive Positions. The Sunday games will have umpires and the College Coaches working the Camp will be Coaching and enteracting w/ the Teams. Again, this is not a teaching Camp although some of the Coaches will offer tips in certain situations. That's just their nature as Coaches. The Coaches are there to evaluate where the Campers' game is at given their current age and to make a judgement as to where they see the Campers' game evolving to by the time they enter College.
Besides the Camp Staff, we are expecting 25-35 additional College Coaches to attend representing DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, and Community Colleges. The Camp Objective is to allow Campers and College Coaches to find one another. Meaning, every Player and every Collegiate Level at the camp will have the potential of finding that perfect match. That's the #1 Camp Objective.
We will be allowing the first 200-225 Campers for 8th - 12th Graders and we are already receiving applications so get yours in soon. We expect this years Camp to fill much faster than last years Camp. Last years' Camp did fill up and we sent back 40+ applications. Feel free to call David Lastrapes (OC Bat Busters, CA.) @ 949-547-3478 (please allow for West Coast Time when calling early) or Rocky Brewer @ 504-858-4404 w/ questions. We will be looking to Close Registration by August 1.
