MissSportsTalk.com Football Poll

Two top-10 showdowns this Friday promise to shake up the top of the large schools poll this Friday. The premiere matchup in the state takes place down in Waynesboro where Mississippi State commits Tyler Russell and Chris Smith lead #2 Meridian into a showdown with Tracey Lampley and #3 Wayne County.

Both teams moved up after Olive Branch was upset by Memphis University School (TN). The Conquistadors fell seven places to #9. After an impressive victory over Madison Central, Picayune jumps into the #10 slot. They can expect to rise even higher if they can pull the upset over #6 Oak Grove.

Taylorsville, with the help of QB Dominque Sullivan, maintained the top slot in the small school poll, but they will be tested as they face Raleigh, who is ranked #7 in the 3A poll. Jackson Prep fell a few spots to #5 in the small school poll after suffering a close loss to the third ranked team in 3A, Newton County. Prep maintained the top slot in the MPSA poll even after the loss. Two of the top teams in the 1A poll collide when Weir travels to Durant.

We can expect a lot of movement this coming week as most teams begin to end their non-district schedules and enter into district play. Here are your MissSportsTalk.com polls for this week.

Note: 12 individual pollsters submitted their polls to create the overall poll. First place votes are in parentheses.
