We first reported on St. Louis (MO) MICDS 2013 OG/OT Jack Kurzu 6'4" 295 5.4 back in September after learning that he had transferred back to school in St. Louis from Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Aquinas. The talented lineman did not disappoint with a strong junior season which has led to many colleges taking notice already.
We spoke to the big lineman, who recently was on a nationwide combine tour to the Semper Fidelis in Phoenix, the Under Armour in Orlando, and the US Army combine in San Antonio.
"I'm a little tired, but it was a great experience," said Kurzu of his combine tour. "I felt like I did well at all of them. Coach Taylor tweeted that I was among the top 5 linemen overall at the Semper Fidelis. I think I also had the best 40 time among offensive linemen at the Army combine."
Kurzu talked about the Army combine specifically.
""The US army combine was an amazing experience. To be around that many great players and athletes, there were around 500 total, was a great opportunity to see where you are compared to others. I measured and weighed in at 6'4" 295 and I ran a 5.4 forty time. I only had 15 reps of 185lbs in the bench, but I have been dealing with a strained shoulder lately. I did really well in the 1 on 1's, and the coaches gave us a lot of feedback to help us prepare and to get better," he said.
Despite coming in off the road this past weekend, it looks like Jack will be headed right back out this coming weekend to start attending a string of junior days he has been invited to.
" I was invited to Miami for their junior day event this coming Sunday. My sister goes to school down there, so it will be a great way to check out their program and see her at the same time. Then I will be heading to the Oklahoma State junior day at the end of this month which I was invited to."
I asked him if there were any new schools or other junior day invites that he was hearing from or might want to attend.
"I just started hearing from Notre Dame and Northwestern. I would also like to attend Missouri for their junior day if I get invited. Right now I am open to all of the schools who want to show interest in me," said Kurzu.
We will keep you updated on Jack Kurzu's recruitment as it happens.
