The state of Missouri is deep on talent for the 2013 class. Most years produce around 20-25 D1 prospects. 2013 already has over 20+ offer out to prospects, and there are more on the way.
One of those prospects who is starting to get attention from colleges is Warrenton (MO) WR/DB Devin Roberts 6'2" 1/2 185 (4.55 forty).
Roberts, who has participated in 5 sports while in high school (football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and track), sees his future on the football field.
"Devin took recent trips to UCF and USF and spoke to ShowMePreps.com about it.
"My family and I took in a spring practice at South Florida over the weekend. I got a tour from their recruiting coordinator, and got to meet some of the coaches. I really liked it. Like the facilities, their study program and their practice field. Everything was very nice. I liked being able to watch and see what a D1 football practice is about. It gives you a chance to see how you might measure up with the athletes in college. UCF is an up and coming program. I feel I would be a good fit," said Roberts.
And what about Central Florida?
"I really enjoyed UCF's campus! I got to see a lot more there. Campus was off the charts. The facilities, weight room, practice facilities, stadium, all was really nice. They even have their own indoor practice facility. I watched practice and then spent some time with the WR coach. They invited me back down to their team camp on June 16th. I plan on attending and I am really interested in them. I would say they are one of my top choices right now."
Devin said that he was invited to Purdue's junior day, but was unable to attend because of his schedule. He is also hearing from a number of other schools.
"Besides UCF and USF, I will be going to Purdue's spring game most likely. I am also probably going to a camp at Northwestern a little later on. Other then that I would say I am hearing the most from Iowa State, Iowa, Duke, Wisconsin and South Dakota. I am also getting some mail from Notre Dame, Nebraska, Missouri and Northern Iowa. Duke likes me as a place kicker and punter and wants me to camp with them,"said Roberts.
The very athletic Roberts is a 3-year starter on varsity, and could play either offense or defense in college.
"I am open to either side of the ball," said Roberts. "Wherever I can help the team the most and the coaches feel comfortable putting me. I am even open to playing both offense and defense if they need me to."
Devin is currently running track and plans on attending a Nike Sparq combine, as well as a few other camps, including Missouri's one day camp in St. Louis this June.
ShowMePreps and Scout.com will continue to follow his recruitment.
