Busy Summer For Burnett Starts This Weekend

One of the top sleepers in the state of Missouri's class of 2013 is seeing his recruiting attention pick up, and he has a super busy summer planned in the hopes of picking up some D1 offers along the way.

Class of 2013 sleeper TE/DE Mason Burnett 6'4" 210 (4.52 forty) from Ft. Zumwalt (MO) East high school is in the state capitol this weekend trying to win a state track championship in the 200 meters after qualifying with a 21.9 time.

Following this weekend, Burnett is hitting the road to camps at colleges who have been recruiting him harder as of late.

"Mason will be in Champaign on the 3rd for the NTFC event," said Rick Barnett, Mason's father, who updated us about Mason's summer plans. "Following that, he will be camping at Missouri from June 7th to the 9th, and then head out to Kansas State on the 10th. He then goes to Iowa June 18th and then Illinois on the 23rd of June."

Mr. Barnett also updated on the schools reaching out to Mason as of late.

"Illinois has probably been recruiting him the hardest of late. Ohio State and Vanderbilt contacted about him this week. Missouri was by the other week to talk to his coach. Coach Salem from Illinois has built a good relationship with Mas," said Burnett.

Mason Burnett is hoping to showcase his abilities on both sides of the ball at camp. He played WR last season, and was told recently that he has the look of a TE on the next level where he trains at Elite Football Academy. So, Mason hopes to double his chances of garnering an offer by being versatile enough to play on either offense or defense.

Mr. Burnett also informed me that Mason will have the ball in his hands more on offense as a senior at Zumwalt East.

"Mason is going to play RB in their single wing, and will shift to the slot, so you will get to see him on the offensive side of the ball this year."
