He also has picked up every award possible including All Metro, All State, All Conference, and Gatorade player of the year for the state of Missouri.
Darrian also picked up his first college offer a few weeks back from the Iowa Hawkeyes. I had the chance to talk the 2009 season and recruiting recently with Darrian to get his views and both.
"The season was great. It would have been perfect if we had won the championship game, but Hazelwood Central was a great team and they won." said Miller.
In regards to his personal success he quickly gave credit to his team and offensive line while preferring to not really talk up his post season honors.
I did get him to talk about his winning the Gatorade Player of the Year award though.
""I found out about it on a Friday before the announcement was made. I was very happy to be recognized and really surprised. Again, it was my team and my line who are responsible for me getting this."
The POY award wasn't the only thing Miller received around that time. He also received his first college offer.
" I just got my first offer, too."Miller said. "From Iowa." It feels good to get the first one.'
Besides Iowa, Darrian listed other schools he is hearing from.
" I am getting recruited the most by Nebraska,Notre Dame, Iowa and Kansas.I am hearting from other schools as well, but they are the ones who I get the most mail from and have checked me out."
I asked about the Missouri Tigers, a team that Darrian told me back over last summer at Missouri's one day camp in Liberty, was his favorite at the time and a school he had a lot of interest in.
" I really haven't heard much from the Tigers, so I don't have the same level of interest as for the schools who are recruiting me more. Back last summer Corbin (Berkstresser) and I use to talk all the time about both going to Missouri together along with Bernard Thomas and some other guys. They (Missouri) requested film on me and I sent it to them so we'll see what happens from that."
Miller had received an invite to the US Army combine but was unable to attend.
He also has received invites to several junior days around the region.
" I am scheduled to go to Iowa's junior day along with K-State's after that and I think I will be going to Missouri's as well."
Darrian Miller is a compact and powerful running back with good vision, speed and cutting ability. His personal testing numbers include a 280lb bench press, 480lb squat,235lbs power clean and 33" vertical jump.
We will continue to follow Darrian's recruitment here.
