A strong group of talented kids turned out for the Show-Me Football Combine on Saturday in St. Louis(MO) to compete and try and help improve their skills.
The event, run by Matt Biermann's Elite Football Academy, had close to 100 kids attend and was highlighted by some of the top lineman in the St. Louis area battling in one on ones.
Here is a quick overview of some of the top attendees. A more detailed breakdown and combine numbers will be coming soon.
The lineman stood out on the day both in size and performance. A few of the prospects were known already, but a few more helped make names for themselves on the day.
East St. Louis (IL) DT Clint Tucker 6'2" 294 was a beast both in testing and during one on ones. The big defensive lineman started out by pushing up 23 reps of 225lbs in the bench press and continue to go full out during agility drills and one on ones. Tucker is both extremely quick and powerful. He reports offers from Kentucky and Kansas.
The one Offensive Lineman on the day who seemed capable of handling Tucker during one on one drills was CBC OC Andrew Ness 6'4" 294lbs. Ness has impressive center skills and pass blocking technique. He uses his feet and long arms to his advantage in pass blocking, and was able to handle Tucker from his natural center position.
Tucker managed to get the upper hand when Ness played LT in drills.
Florida transfer and current Parkway North OL Montae Jones 6'3" 330lbs is a massive athlete. Despite his size, Jones is pretty athletic and moves very well. He showed good agility and the ability to run and held his own playing LT in one on ones.
Lindbergh DE Tony Robinson 6'4" 254lbs 4.8 forty is an intriguing prospect. Robinson has great speed and quickness off the edge and was explosive during drills. He has a frame where he looks like he could add another 40lbs and play inside. Robinson is hearing from Mizzou and other schools and could improve his recruiting stock at camps over the summer.
Granite City (IL) DE Blake Payne 6'4" 256lbs really caught my attention. Payne ran well, tested well showed great explosiveness and motor in one on ones.
Other lineman who stood out include big Carl Miller 6'3" 310 Parkway North,Hayden Smith 6'3" 275 Festus St. Pius X and DeSmet DE Teddy Corwin 6'5" 225lbs. Both stood out on the day. Miller is athletic for such a big man and Corwin tested well and stood out in drills.
Underclassmen Thomas Militello 6'4" 180 MICDS, Eric Laurent 6'3" 190 Parkway South and East St. Louis' LaMontiez Ivy 6'1" 200lbs from the 2012 class all stood out on the day. Millitello looks to have the potential to be the top signal caller in the state of Missouri for his class. With a super live arm, accuracy and running a 4.57 forty, he sets himself apart.
Running Backs Haleem Rayford 5'11" 240lbs and Josh Stanfield CBC 2011 Class, and Justin Schuh 6'0" 205lbs 2012 had great days.
East St. Louis also had another 2012 standout on the day in WR Denis Harris 6'1" 200lbs. Harris looks like he is ready for college physically and also has some nice skills as well.
