Missouri LB Hopes To Earn Tiger Offer

Southwest Missouri stand out has had an impressive spring showing

The Webb City Cardinals are known for producing state championship teams and a few high level division one prospects including for NFL star Grant Wistrom.

The Cardinals have a D1 prospect this year in the form of LB Christian Hoffman 6'1" 205 4.6 forty- 33" vertical jump.

Hoffman, who recently picked up an offer from Missouri State after attending a recent combine of theirs, was one of the stand outs at not one but two Missouri camps over the past couple of weeks.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Christian and found out how the camp experiences went and what level of interest if any the Tigers might have.

"The Tigers camps were great. I did pretty well at the Springfield camp and then went up to Columbia to the team camp they had this past weekend."said Hoffman. "I think I did well there, too. I worked out in the linebacker drills and then they had me work out with defensive backs along with other Renegade Thomas Lott and another player who I can't remember with Coach Ford and Coach Odom. I liked those and performed as well if not better then most of the other DBs."

I asked Christian if he thought the camps helped elevate him in the eyes of the Tigers and may have helped at a chance of getting an offer.

"I really liked the whole experience. I got a chance to get to know Coach Yost pretty well. We have a good relationship. I also got to know Coach Steckel and talk to him. I know they have looked at my tape and my camp performances and they tell me that they think I am a Big 12 player. The also have been very upfront about their recruiting situation and that they have limited numbers for this year and are waiting  to hear on offers out to a couple of Linebackers (Kentrell Brothers and Kellen Jones) at the moment. I know both are really good players, and I know Kentrell from a camp down in Oklahoma where we met. If something falls through with those guys or a spot opens up then I think the Tigers would consider me. They told me to keep up the hard work and have a great senior season and that they would continue to recruit me."

Despite Hoffman's high interest level in Missouri, he isn't sitting back and waiting in the hopes of an offer. He has a full schedule of trips to other schools in the hopes of getting an offer from a D1 school.

" Besides the recent Missouri St. camp where I did really well and picked up an offer, I went to an Iowa State camp and they seem interested in me. I also will be at Northen Illinois camp Thursday and then Kansas camp after that. I am also going to Arkansas on July 17th and Kansas State on July 31st. "

Hoffman put everything in perspective regarding Missouri and the whole recruiting process.

" I really like Mizzou a lot. I love the atmosphere and that they seem to have the same camaraderie as we do at Webb City. I would love to play there, but I realize that if it happens it will be great. If not I hope to play D1 football somewhere else."

Hoffman, who had over 100 tackles as a junior, is being looked at as a WLB and has run a consistent 4.6 forty over the spring at various camps and combines. He had his best performance at the Missouri St. camp where he ran a 4.6, vertical jumped 34", broad jumped 9.5 feet and had a pro agility of 4.09.
