Softball NPS State Tournament MVP's

With all the outstanding performances during the state tournament Nebraska Prep Sports has selected our MVP's of the tournament.<p>

Our panel talked about our selections Saturday night after the Class C title game was played between Wayne and Fairbury. But our Class A selection was not determined until Sunday morning after talking with a couple of tournament coaches about what their opinions were.

CLASS C -

STATE TOURNAMENT - MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Molly Hill - Wayne Blue Devils

Hill is the single season record holder for strikeouts with 482 k's. She had 16 in the first championship game against Fairbury. For a friday performance on the mound of 4 wins and 53 strikeouts. She also had a strong performance in the deciding 2nd championship game.

CLASS B -

STATE TOURNAMENT - MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Kristi Warneke - Beatrice Orangemen

Warneke has pitched in the shadow for most of her career to Ashley Debuhr (who is at the University of Nebraska) but this year led her team with the bat and on the mound to the state title. She pitched Beatrice to a 4-0 win in the title game against Ralston overcoming 2 errors.

A division 1 recruit herself, she is looking at several schools including Missouri, Kentucky, and Notre Dame, along with interest from instate schools.

CLASS A - STATE TOURNAMENT - MOST VALUABLE TOURNAMENT

Cayte Billman - Papillion-LaVista Monarchs

After a 17-2 record as a junior Billman posted a end of season record of 17-3 as a senior. Each season she has played she has shown outstanding improvement against quality opponents. In this years Class A title game Cayte allowed only one hit.

Another strong division 1 recruit as a first baseman and as a pitcher. She is looking at several Midwest schools.
