Gorman Grad Blows Up This Week For Arizona

Former Gorman Star Keola Antolin did plenty for Nevada Prep Football players this weekend in his break out performance in a monster effort for Arizona as they beat Cal at home. After starter Nick Grigsby fumbled, Coach Mike Stoops decided to put in the Gorman Freshman and now he could be the PAC 10 Player of the Week. Oklahoma's Nevada kids also were in the spotlight again this weekend.

Oklahoma on defense will be a team that will give up big chunks of yardage while playing the Big 12 pass happy offenses. Ryan Reynolds was mentioned plenty in the game against Kansas, as the Jayhawks pushed the Sooners early in their Saturday contest. Cheyenne grad Quintin Carter stepped up and led the Sooners in tackles with 10 on the day. Gorman grad Demarco Murray had a breakout game with over 130 yards of total offense. He rushed for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns in their contest against KU.

Antolin was praised all night by the Arizona broadcasting team for playing with great heart. He was shot out of a cannon on a monster run of 59 yards in the 3rd quarter. He finished with 149 yards rushing with 3 tds on the evening and dont be suprised if we see Arizona playing in Las Vegas during Bowl Season, as they are now are just 2 wins away from getting Bowl eligible. Green Valley Grad Brett Johnson had 6 tackles in the game for Cal. DJ Campbell of Cheyenne added 2 tackles for Cal.

Shadow Ridge Grad Preston Davis slowed down for Idaho this past week as he only grabbed 4 catches for 16 yards against LA Tech in a loss. DP Grad Michael Cosgrove played well with 3 tackles and Charles Smith also added 3 tackles on the night.

On Friday night, LV Grad Billy Winn had 3 tackles with Chap Grad Dallas Dobbs adding 2 for the Boise State Broncos in a win over Hawaii. Reno Grad Sean Bingham also had 3 tackles.

Phillip Payne is clearly one of the top Freshman in the country as he grabbed another touchdown for UNLV this weekend in a loss to Air Force. His 28 yard TD was top flight as he used his 6'3 frame to sky over a Falcon defender in the back of the endzone. He ended up grabbing 6 catches for 124 yards. PV Grad Rusty Worthen stepped in for Western Grad Ronnie Paulo as both players ended up with 8 tackles on the night. Paulo looks to have a severe injury as he was on crutches after halftime watching the game from the sideline. Shadow Ridge Grad Chris Jones had 5 tackles also in the game.

Utah won again with Stephenson Sylvester leading with 9 tackles in the win against Colorado State. Eddie Wide of CM added 35 yards on 3 tackles. Rashaan Greer of Mojave had 3 grabs for 67 yards in the loss for CSU.

Chris Mark of Gorman grabbed a touchdown for New Mexico in their blowout win against San Diego State.
