Good Start For Nevada Grads In College Sports

Is there anything that has not been said about the play this season by former Gorman Star Demarco Murray at Oklahoma. This weekend he tied the Freshman touchdown record of Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma with touchdowns that graced the highlites of Sports Center many times over. Prety good opening weekend of hoops for our former Nevada Athletes as well. Lets take a look at who did what so far.

Kudos this weekend also needs to go to former Silverado Star Spencer Armstrong of the Air Force as he scored a TD in the win this weekend at Notre Dame.

Also fine play this weekend by Reno High's Josh Barrett of Arizona State with his first pick of the year at UCLA. Same can be said for the solid DB play of BJ Williams of DP for Washington State this weekend as well.

Lets get to the hoops. I know that we are probably missing a few players, so I hope that our readers can fill in any missing blanks on the message boards

Starting at San Diego State, Las Vegas is well represented with Lorenzo Wade of Cheyenne and coming off the bench Billy White of GV. Both had leading scoring games this weekend in their opening contests at Fresno State.

Lets talk about those who went to the East Coast who got major minutes coming out of the box. Hank Thorns is getting 20 minutes + a game at Virginia Tech, as the Hokies won their opener. Also, up the road at James Madison is Heiden Ratner of Silverado who also got 20 + minutes in their solid win over Siena this weekend.

Also on the East Coast and starting at guard is former Cheyenne star Chris Fuller at Florida International. Coastal Carolina has former Fuller teammate at Cheyennne Chad Ferguson coming off the bench.

Back to the West Coast, Colorado State is expecting big things from their duo from Las Vegas in Mojave's Donte Poole and Durango's Andre McFarland. They will be taking on Robert Smith at New Mexico, as the former Foothill guard enters into his 2nd year as a Lobo.

In Nevada, Marcus Lawrence represents Gorman for UNLV. Armon Johnson of Hug and Curry Lynch of Virginia City both suit up for Nevada.

The biggest splash this weekend was at Creighton as P Allen Stinnett lit it up for 23 points for the Blue Jays in their opening win. He follows former DP Star Robert Porter in Omaha playing for the Jays.

Lets not forget up in the Northwest, where Mitch Platt of GV is in his Senior year at Oregon. The always traveling Harvey Perry Jr has landed in Moscow, Idaho and is expected to eligible after Christmas for the Vandals after transfering from Washington. Mike Kale of Coronado also sees time for the Vandals as well in the paint.

Douglas star Keith Olson is at Northern Arizona. Lance Higbee of Pahranagat Valley is at Southern Utah along with Mike Josserand of Centennial.CJ Portz of Gorman is at UC Davis

On ESPN this weekend was the best girls hoopster Nevada has produced in Italee Lucas, who came off the bench and looked like a natural for the Top 10 ranked Tar Heels.
