Another Big Week For Nevada Alums - Antolin

UNLV continues to get great play from local players on defense. Chris Jones of Shadow Ridge, Rusty Worthen from Palo Verde, Nate Carter of Vegas and Ronnie Paulo are putting the Rebs in line for a bowl game. Lawrence Guy got his first touchdown this week. As the former Western star ran in a 22 yard fumble for a TD for ASU. Keola Antolin of Arizona and Gorman- 4 touchdowns this week at Oregon.

Antolin continued his strong rise as one of the PAC 10's top Freshman with the strong TD effort and also with 87 yards rushing. Next week the Cats get to play spoiler against Oregon State in Tucson. Maybe we will see Antolin in Vegas for the Las Vegas Bowl this year.

Brett Johnson of Green Valley continued to play well for Cal with 7 tackles on the day in their loss to Oregon State.

Sam King of Palo Verde is now starting at rush end for New Mexico State. He did not have big stats in his game against Fresno. His former NIAA alums, Ben Jacobs of Silverado had 5 tackles and Jon Monga of Foothill had 4 tackles with a forced fumble in the Bulldog win.

In the Idaho vs Boise State game, Preston Davis of Shadow Ridge had 3 grabs for 47 yards. Billy Winn of Vegas with 3 tackles and a pass breakup for Boise. Sean Bingham of Reno and Dallas Dobbs of Chap contributed a tackle each. Jeromy Jones of DP added 4 tackles for Idaho.

No sign of Aaron Bagsby on ESPN U this week in the UCONN win over Syracuse.

Deshawn Richard of Rancho had a monster game for Utah in their big win over SDSU. He returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns with an 89 and 38 yard return for score. Stevenson Sylvester of Valley had a couple of tackles and a forced fumble. Eddie Wide of CM did not play.

Brett Jaekel of Bonanza and Nevada had 2 field goals of 35 and 33 yards.

Josh Jordan of Gorman and Jarell Holman of Rancho added tackles for Arizona State this weekend.

Quietly, Rashaan Greer of Mojave is putting up big numbers for Colorado State. He had 6 grabs for 71 yards on Saturday.

Lets not forget Coronado WR now at Southern Utah - Tysson Poots. The kid continues to set records each week and gets no local love from the local papers. He once again caught another TD pass and ended up with over 100 yards receiving once again.

Former Palo Verde QB Jarrell Harrison is now at City College of SF and has made himself a major JC recruit playing safety. He is looking at Missouri, Arizona State, North Carolina and UNLV to play at next season.

I know that it is early in the College Hoop Season and we will be giving our readers a complete run down of our local players who are playing hoops. Once again Harvey Perry is MIA, we will find out where he is going as soon as we can. We can tell you that Marcus Lawrence of Gorman is at IDAHO along with former Gael Kashif Watson who starts at the point for Idaho.

Luke Babbitt was out of his mind in game one of his season for Nevada. The Galena star ended up with 30 points and 12 boards. Hug star Armon Johnson ended up with 16 points and 7 boards off the bench.

P Allen Stinnett is representing once again in the Missouri Valley with Creighton. Out of the box the former PV star put up 30 points in game one. Billy White of GV looked good for SDSU by leading the team with 15 points in a win over the weekend. Lorenzo Wade of Cheyenne, who was expected to be a team leader was arrested in the off season for a theft charge and is not on the roster at the moment. We all hope that this does not end up being another Frank Brown situation that took place at Montana State. Josh Rivers is at Western Ill and the Valley star is starting for the squad.
