Basketball - ALL STATE TEAM

In a year of mini State Basketball Tournaments, power house teams from Southern Nevada were left at home to watch Foothill and Palo Verde battle it out for the Boys title. Not a great year for big men in Nevada,as backcourt players dominated the All State team. This is the ALL State team for the Boys. Players were chosen from input from North and South Coaches and media members from NSN Sports.

This year was a down year for College Prospects in Nevada. A very tough year to name All State teams with not many truly dominate players. Here we go with the First team.

Guard - Tywain Mctyre - Durango 6'0 - Linebacker size made him a very tough player to guard. He was tough inside, could penetrate and play tough defense. Without him in the lineup, Durango melted. Going to Florida International.

Guard - Ryan Klekas - ELko - 6'1 - His Coach and Father Chris Klekas told us that he didn't want to bring his team back to Las Vegas until this year. Well we understand why, as Elko was the first ever team to beat a Southern Team in the MLK Classic. Klekas was the reason why, he penetrates, hit open jumpers and is the floor leader that led Elko back to State. His performance against Palo Verde was one of the best we have seen. Air Force has expressed interest at this moment. Good fit for a talented player.

Forward - Nate Schulte - Palo Verde - 6'4 - Sophomore - Growth between Fresh and Soph year amazing. TOugh inside and now has an outside game as well. Team leader and only wants to get better. He was the 4th leading scorer in Las Vegas and also one of the leading rebounders. State Playoff MVP.

Guard - Stanley Copeland - Las Vegas - 5'10 - One of the smartest players in the State a true floor general. Great jump shot and penetration led his team to within a game of possibly going to state. Las Vegas was purely held together by his play - one of the best assist and scorers in town. Sunrise MVP. Possible JC or Football as a CB.

Forward/ Guard- Harvey Perry - Cheyenne- 6'4.The much ballyhoed Perry had alot to prove from all of the hype from Summer ball and his many transfers during his high school career. He was a steady scorer on a suprisingly down Cheyenne team. A great talent, that has not come close to reaching his potential. Noting how Foothill went to State, you wonder if playing for his old school would have helped him. Off to prep school.

Coach of the Year - Kevin Soares - Foothill.
