Seton Hall Making Some Noise

The Seton Hall Pirates continue to make moves on some of the top talent in the area

It may have been a surprise to some that former 2004 big man, John Oates, a 6-10 center from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J., decided to take a pass right on any scholarship offers this past spring. Oates will attend Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey under the leadership of talented head coach Joe Mantegna.

But the word around town is that Oates continues to improve his individual skills and quickness. Oates, who took an unofficial visit to St. John's last spring, is now currently taking an official visit to Seton Hall University.

Our source close to Oates indicates that the big man is looking to ramp up his recruiting process as he heads into the July evaluation period.

Oates also has scholarship offers from Fordham and Holy Cross. Rutgers took some serious looks at Oates last spring but opted not to offer. But it appears the Hall is very interested in the big man as he continues to make progress in his individual game.

Oates has added several inches to his vertical. He continues to work daily with a personal trainer.
